HUGE DART FROG ROOM TOUR JANUARY 2023!! Dart frogs, toads and more!
So what is the purpose of using drylock?
Nothing like a good ole reptile room tour with Mike . I literally watched this twice. It just the same week . Love your channel. Can’t wait to start my reptile journey. But your definitely one for of the GOATS your and your wifey keep up the great work bruv 🎉🎉🎉🎉
been watching since u were graphic phenix in the intros lol. crazy to see how far u have come, u keep some amazing animals
Always makes me smile seeing comments like this! Thanks for tuning back in and glad you enjoyed!!
Do you use a heat pad to help with humidity and keep it above 75-90f?
I didn't have a heat pad on this bin... the temperature in my room combined with the lights over the bin were enough to keep this bin where the temps needed to be.
@@MikeTytula have you had and luck with breeding them using the water pump and spraying 2 times a day. From your friend video you made 2 years ago
@@bluecavemen unfortunately never had any luck breeding them.
Me either
Love to see your growth and adventures since pretty much the beginning enjoy life my friend you deserve it
Thanks so much Seth! Always nice to see you still tuning into the channel and watching even the shorts!
Like subscribe comment. Check. Great content
Thanks so much! Just wait for the next build that will be on the channel!
Would like a tank by tank vid, would also love to know a bit about the owners of Jungle Jewel, and show case all their passion for this hobby.
That is a great idea! I do have several videos on the channel that feature their room and their passion for the hobby! I will definitely try and get them to do a tank by tank adventure next time I am at their place.
Gotta name the leaf turtle master oogway 😭😭
A classic of course!
It's been a while so what are your thoughts on the all in one light they have? Uv and full spectrum light?
So far I have no real complaints! I have had the light setup with low UVB output and the frogs seem to be doing well. As for the light in this video, it performs well for the compact form factor.
@@MikeTytula do you have a video where you compare CFL vs traditional tube bulbs? Some people have mixed opinions saying CFL is bad because it doesn't produce enough UV.
Drinking beer.
Oh heck ya!
Love to hear it! What kind of beer?
@@MikeTytula Lagunitas IPA. I got a variety pack, so I can't say for sure which one I was drinking last night. Great vid btw, and awesome set ups! I'm looking forward into getting back into some built out terrarium display tanks.
Ohhh that is a great beer! Love me some IPAs! Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed!
@@MikeTytula I'm drinking Lagunitas Maximus right now. Very good.
Drinking an iced matcha latte I just made 10 mins ago. Your terrariums look wonderful, may I ask what you use for substrate? I currently use a mix of peat moss, sand, and top soil. I’m just curious what you put in yours, the plants are beautiful.
Ohhh iced matcha lattes hit different, so good! Honestly we use a different mix of things in almost every tank. It's more based on the species of reptile that is living in the tank than the plants. Typically a very similar mixture to the one you are using but we add worm casting as well.
@@MikeTytula Thanks for the reply! I never thought of adding worm casting, that’s a great idea! Thanks for the inspiration
No problem! It helps add small amount of fertilizers into the soil.
Love seeing all your animals and the enclosures. Love all the bromeliads in all the dart frogs tanks, so pretty! I am inspired to grab a Emerald Grass lizard 🦎 they look so cute and friendly. 💚 Fellow Canadian new sub. Curious to know where you got yours from?
@@kirans7863 Thanks for watching and the sub! You can buy them from me :)
Fuego
Thanks for watching!
wow breathtaking ..once in a lifetime experience !ty for sharing this moment
Thanks for watching! It was stunning! Such and incredible view! Sucks that we didn't see the frog species we went all that way to find hahah
I would love to do this one day😊💚🌿
Definitely worth the sweat, and money!
Gorgeous
Absolutely! Was a great trip! Can't wait to share it on youtube!
just wondering what’s the distance between your light and the floor ?
I dont remember exactly what it was in these tanks, but somewhere around 18"
From what I could find because I never heard of the other brand, but it is much cheaper to get the repashy fly food from lllreptile, also still looking at mixing my own but after ready the ingredient list for repashy I might got with that
I mix my own, and it works great. I can't lie though, the repashy stuff is incredibly convenient and not terrible price per culture when you buy the biggest size available.
Rowan is gorgeous! I love the green ratsnakes and the Colorado Desert Shovelnose Snake, too. My favorite have go to be the black breasted leaf turtles, though. They're my favorite turtle species - so much personality! I want one so bad. lol And, yes, I am jealous of your Fiji Bandit Iguana. lol
They are all such cool animals! But the turtles definitely have a special place in my heart. Ya the fiji banded iguana is awesome
my fave is rat snake n those mexican frogs ..great tour
Great choices right there!
Great choices! They are awesome!
If I was to go to Canada (probably never, sorry) instead of going on vacation I'd just help you guys start banging out these builds. I want Sheldon to get his new crib (though I guess that's coming soon).
Ya there is still plenty of work to be done but we have come a long way since this video.
Why not keep komodo dragon? Bro
Definitely don't have space for one of them haha
how is your uromastyx so calm how long did it take to get him like that, also how often do you feed them ?
I bought him from a friend that had them for a while, but Hugo was just naturally tame since the beginning.
On average how long does the quikcrete stay on
The drylok you mean?
@@MikeTytulayeah I meant the drylock
I've never had it come off even in the tanks that are super high humidity.
Ok
16:01 hello, name if plante please ?😊
Something similar to Philodendron shangri-la. Might not be that exact plant though.
Amazing animals and setups, however confused about the Chahoua geckos, in the UK an 18x18x24 is the minimum for a crestie so wouldn't a pair of chahoua need a much larger setup?
Ideally a bit bigger would be ideal. We plan to upgrade when we have a new place. There is no fighting or anything in these enclosures though
Omg I recognize bros voice form like 5 years ago
Love it! Hopefully you enjoyed the video!
nice room, do you like asparagus?
It's a REAL reptile room tour ;) Love asparagus!
Hello @MikeTytula. How big are the terrariums that your Chahoua geckos live in? From Kenneth/Denmark :)
18x18x24 (45x45x60)
@@MikeTytula thanks 🇩🇰
Love to see your RUclips videos 🤘
Thanks for watching! Means a lot!
Did you need to cover up the vents on them?
The vents at the back are always recommended to be covered.
Just wanted to say I love watching your videos & builds & have gained a new subscriber, so hello from the UK 😀 also fraygo if that's how you spell it lol 😂
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
for the leaf turtales
Cheers
bud and rose
Thanks for the suggestion!
did you name the Leaf turtles
I haven't yet!
im looking to get a gargoyle gecko! Do you have any tips for a beginner reptile owner?
Do as much research as you possibly can. Make sure you buy it from a reputable breeder. Feel free to shoot me a message on IG and we can chat more there
Fantastic collection
Thanks for the kind words!
I’m about to plant a 48x40x24” tank for green tree frogs with various rarer “indoor”plants (variegated monsteras and philos as well as some anthuriums) and was wondering what you’d recommend for lighting for such a tall tank. Thanks 😊
Is it 24" tall? or 40"? And what is your budget for the lighting?
@@MikeTytula 40” tall. I don’t want to go super super high in budget as the basic supplies are already around $2000. I obviously need lighting though so willing to pay whatever I need to get the job done
Probably the best option would be 3-4 LED flood lights! Just will have to look for some with a good spectrum for plants!
Happy Saturday, everyone
Happy Sunday! Enjoy!
Where can we get the cork panels?
Depends where you are located
Thank you for helping me click on a non political video
Hahaha thanks for clicking on the video! Hope you enjoyed it!
enjoy your content Mike...I just subscribed
Thanks so much!
do you know how your ackie got gout?
Unfortunately there is no definitive one cause
@@MikeTytula I had the same happening to my ackie Speedy. He got it at the age of 8 years and then I adjusted his diet in an attempt to stop it progressing. That worked. What I did was changing the diet for my feeder insects from mainly cat/fish food to parrot pellets and fresh fruit and vegetables. That seems to work and he lived a healthy life (with the gout i a dormant stage) to the age of 15. Hope the same will be the case for your ackie also :) Btw love your videos and have been a subscriber from the very start of your channel.
We feed the feeders a great diet, don't over feed him. Lighting is good too. Genuinely not sure what is going on with him. Thanks so much for the suggestions, I'm all ears :)
@@MikeTytula My pleasure. I am more than 110% sure you are giving your reptiles the best care possible. I guess some its the "natures" way and some develop it and some wont. Like in humans and mammals. Regardless I hope he will continue to doing great and that the gout dont get worse. 🤞
Thanks so much! I am totally open to criticism and ways to improve my care. My vet said that it seems to be fairly common in ackies, because he has seen several ackies that develop it. I really hope he will be good for years to come, just need to keep my eye on it. Thankfully my vet is a good friend and is ruthless with his thoughts, so he will definitely tell me when the time comes.
Would predatory beetle species help with the thrips?
unfortunately, they don't do a great job.
Can you ship chahoua to the UK
I believe we answered on IG
Yeah
perfect
I just found my first wild reptile yesterday it was a Mediterranean Chameleon (Chameleo chameleon)in Portugal I was so surprised as I found it on a ramp on the beech I released it in a bush to protect it as it's an endangered species Great video as always Mike
Congrats! And thanks for watching!
Striker was so cool I'm so sad about the loss of the best leopard gecko in the world First reptiles are just the best I went back and watched your old videos with him in and he looked so young then and it's amazing to see how Striker evolved into the collection you have now You took such good care of him and that's why he lived the best life he could of😊
Thanks for the kind words. He was one of a kind, definitely miss him greatly.
Please do more leaf turtle videos
What would you like to see in with them?
@@MikeTytula Care videos
Ya that would be a good one!
Do they help control the stray fly or 2? I'm planing on getting at least one for my room. I don't want to use raid anymore because I have plants and animals now.
If you can keep them humid enough to grow they will definitely help control flies and other flying insects.
My favorite is my lewisi, but I absolutely love your leaf turtle but spendy, also all the dart frogs, I have a large void in a snake here I need to fix would love a basin etb pair cut can't afford it maybe northerns.i have a gutted fridge id like to turn into a aborel snake etb or gtp with frog or turtles on bottom.
The leafs are so cute it is impossible to not love them! 💖
That would be interesting!
Thank you bro. How necessary is the excelsior wood strands.
Some have success without it, however I never managed to get the coffee filters alone to work very well.
